In compliance with the obligations provided for by the European Privacy Regulation EU/2016/679 (GDPR) with this we intend to inform that Associazione Musicale FR. Terenzio Zardini, as Data Controller and operator of the website https://www.associazionemusicalezardini.it, will process the personal data concerning you, which may be collected, provided by you and/or by other subjects communicated, by filling in forms, browsing web pages and using services.
Art. 1 - Competition
The competition is open to young musicians of any nationality and citizenship, born on or after January 1, 1989.
Art. 2 - Application Submission
The application form must be completed and submitted by February 8, 2025.
The following documents must be attached to the application:
The composition must be written for a high-level choir and a professional organist. The identifying motto and the duration of the composition (minimum 3 minutes, maximum 5 minutes) must be indicated at the beginning of the score.
The score must be anonymous. Each composer may participate with only one piece per category. If a candidate wishes to compete in both categories, they must pay the two fees specified in Art. 4.
The score must be created using music notation software and submitted in PDF format via the application form. Audio files, other formats, or physical materials will not be accepted.
When submitting the application, the contestant must declare that the work has neither been published nor awarded or acknowledged in other competitions. Any false statement in this regard will result in disqualification from the competition and forfeiture of any rights to prizes or recognition.
The competition secretariat will send only the anonymous scores to the jury, and the identities of the contestants will remain unknown until the awards ceremony.
Art. 3 - Competition Categories
The competition is divided into two categories, which participants may choose freely:
Category A: Motet for choir and organ
Category B: Motet for a cappella choir
The text of the composition must be sacred and in the public domain, in Latin, Italian, or English. If a copyrighted text is used, permission signed by the author or copyright holder must be obtained and submitted with the application. Submissions must be written for a mixed choir with four voices (SATB, which may divide into up to eight voices: SSAATTBB). For Category A, the piece must use a two-manual pipe organ with an obligatory pedalboard.

The composition cannot be altered after submission.
Art. 5 - Judging Panel
The judging panel will consist of experts in the field.
Art. 6 - Prize Fund: € 2.000,00
The prizes are divided by category:
Category A: Single prize of € 1.000,00
Category B: Single prize of € 1.000,00
Other notable compositions may also receive recognition.
The awarding of prizes and recognition is at the sole discretion of the jury, which may choose not to award them. Prizes and recognitions are subject to withholding tax, as per tax laws.
The jury’s decision is final and cannot be appealed.
The list of winners will be published on the website www.associazionemusicalezardini.it by March 29, 2025.
The award ceremony will be held on Friday 25 April 2025.
Art. 7 - Final Provisions
Applying implies full and unconditional acceptance of the rules outlined in this regulation.
The organizers reserve the right to make any changes necessary to improve the competition, publishing them on the website and notifying participants. They also reserve the right to cancel the competition by April 7, 2025, if unforeseen circumstances prevent its execution. In such a case, participants will be refunded their registration fee.
Personal data provided by candidates will be collected and processed for the management of the Terenzio Zardini International Sacred Music Composition Competition, pursuant to Legislative Decree 196/03 and Art. 13 of the GDPR (EU Regulation 2016/679).
